Three Ways to Make Oral Hygiene Fun For Your Kids!
Posted on 2/24/2017 by Michael Mettler
To help keep your kids’ teeth healthy it is important to find ways to make oral hygiene fun for them. We suggest the following tips.
1. Accessorize: Make brushing fun by letting your kids pick out their own toothbrush and toothpaste. A little sparkle or color can go a long way in making brushing feel like a special occasion for them. And while watermelon-flavored toothpaste may sound awful to you, at time strong mint flavors can seem overwhelming to children. Be sure to check out all the products made especially for children on your next visit to the store to purchase a toothbrush.
2. All in the Family: By brushing with your children, they will learn good oral health habits just by watching you. Make brushing and flossing a family affair at least once per day to keep your kids on track.
3. Reward System: Motivate your kids to take care of their teeth and do other chores by establishing a rewards system for them. You can use a star chart and stickers to illustrate how many points they’ve earned by brushing their teeth properly. Once they have accumulated set number of points, the children get something in return. You’ll be surprised at how easy may be to get them to brush and floss regularly this way!
